Dissociative anesthetics are known to cause muscles to become rigid due to their unique pharmacological effects. This category includes drugs such as ketamine and phencyclidine (PCP). They primarily interact with the NMDA receptor in the brain, leading to altered perceptions, immobility, and muscle rigidity, which can resemble catatonia.
